ALREADY a SAINT:

FEAST DAY: April 28th

St. Gianna Molla

                    The Patroness of Mothers,

                                                       Physicians,

                                                            and Unborn Children

St. Gianna was an Italian pediatrician.  Two months into her fourth pregnancy, in 1962,

at age 39, she allowed doctors to remove a tumor from her uterus, saving Gianna, and her baby.   But complications after the cesarean birth took Gianna's life.    She is a champion for putting the life and safety of her baby before her own life.  She was also a pious and wonderful wife and mother, and heavily involved in charitable works.  After her death, two miracles, each involving mothers in grave health danger, have been attributed to St. Gianna's intercession.  She is the first saint to have a husband attend his wife's canonization.   Her four children were present as well.

St. Gianna, pray for us.

St.Gianna, pray for mothers in crisis.

St. Gianna, pray for the unborn, Amen.

SO Now that I know something About a Saint - what do I do with that information ???

God Gave us Saints To Example what it looks like when we strive to be our best selves.

We were also given Saints as advocates for anything that ails us.

There's more to unpack about why Saints exist - but it all points to

GOD GAVE US SAINTS FOR A REASON!:

THE CLOSER YOU GET TO THEM, THE MORE YOU FIGURE OUT WHY :) .

Can you pray directly to God - of course!

But when you're facing something harsh - it's great to have a prayer partner

that has perhaps "walked a mile in your shoes".

God would not have given us a Communion of Saints,

and Jesus wouldn't have asked us to pray for others

if praying for yourself was the best/only recipe.

There's a saint for most everything - type in Saint for going to the dentist!  You'll see Pray to Saint Apollonia:

they pulled out her teeth as a torture because she wouldn't denounce God.   She braved through the pain without anesthesia - and if you ask her, she will pray for you that your dentist does a great job managing your experience.   Thankful you can worship God openly in the USA?  Feeling braver about going to the dentist now?  Doesn't it feel great to know someone who went through such dental pain will be begging God to spare you pain?   God is so great for 1. Connecting us with a prayer advocate so specific to our need...and 2. Reminding us of the power of suffering.  (Read "Offer it Up!" on the blog tab above. ) St. Apollonia's pain became something that years of those who've prayed to her have benefitted from.  Offer your pain to the starving souls in Purgatory (also discussed in the blog post "Offer it Up!") and suddenly, you're thinking like a Saint...!

St. Gianna - May your example Help Us to Value Unborn Children as Precious Gifts to the World!

St. Apollonia - May your example Help Us to put God First in our lives-at any cost!
