St. Gianna Molla

                    The Patroness of Mothers,

                                                       Physicians,

                                                            and Unborn Children

​

St. Gianna was an Italian pediatrician.  Two months into her fourth pregnancy, at age 39, she allowed doctors to remove a tumor from her uterus, saving Gianna, and her baby.   But complications after the cesarean birth took Gianna's life.    She is a champion for putting the life and safety of her baby before her own life.  She was also a pious and wonderful wife and mother, and heavily involved in charitable works.  After her death, two miracles, each involving mothers in grave health danger, have been attributed to St. Gianna's intercession.  She is the first saint to have a husband attend his wife's canonization.   Her four children were present as well.
